Explore how the brain is formed during development through our cutting-edge research. We delve into neural stem cells and investigate the impact of genetic and environmental factors on their behavior. Leveraging advanced technologies like brain region-specific organoids, we uncover insights into human brain development. Join us in unraveling the complexities of the brain.
Our research focuses on understanding brain development in both normal and pathological conditions. We employ cutting-edge techniques such as neural stem cell cultures, 3D-brain organoid and microglial assembloid culturing, combined with pharmacological and genetic editing.
We aim to unravel fundamental concepts of brain development and investigate how genetic and environmental risk factors contribute to neurodevelopmental disorders.
We are fortunate to collaborate with esteemed researchers including David Cyrus Mintz (Johns Hopkins, Baltimore), Jennifer Winter (University Medical Centre of the Johannes Gutenberg University), Bettina Platt, Gernot Riedel, Patrick Cao Huan, Lynda Erskine, and Martin Collinson (all from the University of Aberdeen).
